Are You The Kind Of Representative You Want To Be? Not everyone becomes involved with the Avon business to make a fortune, people have their own wants and needs. Most will know what they are after or at least have an idea. Many don't realize the earning potential available to them. If your a new Representative you need to know what you want ) out of your business). I've listed a few different categories of Representatives I've met, you may be included among this list or you may have other reasons for doing this business, the important thing is to know your why. The Scammer This is the most despicable type you may run into. Their actually very easy to spot. Here are a few things to look for. *Shows little interest in the how to's of the business *You catch them in lies *Know more about the business then the average new Representative (probably has friends or family that has done this). *Wants to sign up under someone else's identity (boyfriend or husband), (if Avon has disallowed because of your past schnanigans ie you didn't pay your bill you will not be allowed to sell again, many try this method). you will soon learn to spot these folks, I'm not saying to judge anyone, remember though that when time are tough many folks are looking for a fast buck. You can be the first line of defense in alerting Avon to a potential scam. One more thing Christmas is a good time to be especially on alert as many are simply looking to buy gifts for friends and family with no intention of paying their bill. As A Hobby Some folks simply want buy the products for themselves and their family, they have no desire to build an empire. These Ladies need little supervision, we don't push them, after all it's their business. We ask our new Ladies up front what they are looking for in the business and do what we can to help them achieve it. Remember as time goes on and circumstances change you can always get busy and grow your business. The Lonely Are you lonely? It's not uncommon even in a country of 300 million or a city of several thousand. Have the kids moved out and your left with an empty nest? Has your spouse passed away and you feel lost? This business can be good for you. The United States has a population of over 300 million and yet many of us feel alone (how sad is that)? As a matter of fact my wife Ingrid became an Avon Representative because I was gone a lot on business, she felt as though she was losing her mind, with only the dogs for company she knew she had to do something - so she became an Avon Rep! She must have been lonely she made Presidents Club in the first six months! This is a great opportunity for you to meet other ladies, if you decide to get into leadership, you'll have to help those Ladies. The bottom line is you'll feel a part of something, and perhaps that is all you really need. The Product Mover Maybe you just like to sell Avon and why not? Your selling cosmetics to women (generally) the only thing easier is selling candy to a ten year old! Perhaps you have no desire to lead others, your happy in you own little world but boy can you move product.
The Power Builder Imagine making more money than your doctor, having lunch in Europe only because you can. Are you driving the car of your dreams or the one you can afford? Imagine getting a check from Avon every two weeks for $6,000.00. I've met these Ladies, they are the movers and shakers in the business. Many of them started exactly where you're at (some even lower). How did they make it? Easy they worked for it! It wasn't handed to them, they got out there and handed out brochures sold products and taught other ladies to do the same - that's it. It really is that simple, but if your looking to make a six figure income in a few months - forget it. First you work then you play! There are no short cuts. A wise man once said that to be successful it involves 99% sweat and 1% talent - I think he was right. The Failures Yikes did he say that? Sadly yes, the good news is this. There are only two ways to fail at Avon - that's right only two! Give up on your dreams and quit Don't pay your bill and be removed The decision is up to you, decide to succeed (whatever that is for you) or to fail. Why Did I Add This Page? As Unit Leaders we need to know what our Representatives are looking to get out of their business, what kind of business do they want for themselves. Sure it may change as time goes by and that's fine everyone is different, but it makes it easier for us to understand up front the personalities we deal with. For you I guess you need to understand that there are many personalities out there. Perhaps your getting into leadership, or you didn't realize the real possibilities available to you. As you travel along this path you will within a very short time meet all those "types" listed above.
