A Valuable Tool
your brochures are perhaps your most valuable tool, and yet many representatives are stingy with them.
The biggest impact you can make is with a properly prepared brochure. We are going to discuss different ways
use can utilize them to effect the greatest rewards. I'll be adding to this page over the next little while but this will get you started and if you like
Presentation
You have this wonderful brochure, loaded with all kinds of salable goods, now lets dress it up a little.
On the back you're going to have to let your customers know who you are, how they can contact you and when the order goes in. you can hand
write each (time consuming if you have several - and you should), you can go to a printer and have a
custom rubber stamp made (you'll need one for the date as well) or you can do what we do, use Avery address labels. With the labels
you can make changes and save them, customize them to suit your needs and applying them to your brochures is a snap.
Load Em
Assuming you have a healthy supply of samples, you can "load" your brochures with
them. Find a product (a cologne for instance) and staple the sample on that page featuring that item.
You customer will feel there is something in the brochure and they'll go searching for the bulge.
It's a great way to get them to browse the brochure and they are rewarded with the wonderful fragrance
enclosed. Don't over do it one or perhaps two is enough and can provide results.
Tossing
This is admittedly the easiest way to distribute a large number with minimal effort. you may even get sales, but here's
what I've noticed, take it for what it's worth.
your brochure is your storefront, how you present it reflects on you. I've heard many reasons as to why tossing is a good idea, I don't like it.
here's an example why.
A potential customer was away on vacation, the grass was perhaps a little high. Customer decides the grass needs cutting, its early evening, he's tired, starts to cut cut the grass and guess what he finds
the brochure you've left but not until he's run over it with the lawn mower.
Now after cutting the grass he has to gather up your Avon brochure blown all over the lawn.
Do you think you're going to get that family as a customer? Oh and by the way you know he's going to mention the incident to his neighbors, probably
won't get them either.
OK you get the idea (by the way that was a true story) - turned out to be one of our best customers and no that was not us that tossed the brochure.
The best option to move lots of brochures (or so it would seem) would be to hang them on the door
with perhaps a sample, problems is most folks won't call for the first 3-4 campaigns, so you need to be diligent.
I know how painful this method is - believe me, I went around with my wife doing just this
me with my bundle her with hers - house by house, in the summer, in eastern Arkansas and yes it was hot!
We did this faithfully for five campaigns - the result, three orders, two we couldn't reach for delivery, a total bust.
Now you may it would have been better just to throw the brochures, well actually the results probably
would not have been much worse.

The Best Method
I believe the problem with tossing or even placing in a bag on the door know is this. The public has seen Avon Representatives come and go, they have placed orders and never heard from the Representative again. There
seems to be a great turn around of Ladies selling Avon so the public assumes why bother,
your "tossing" just reinforces this.
The best method then I've seen is the original method - don't be lazy and don't try to reinvent the wheel. Miss Albee
was successful because she beat the streets and dealt with her customers on a personal level, she had only a few bottles of perfume and certainly
no brochures to hand out. That then is I believe the trick, we live in a very impersonal world,
a world where one can be lonely within a city of several thousand! As humans we NEED personal contact!
Care about your customers, show your products, leave samples, brochures, give some of your time, be friendly
and go back! If you build a relationship with your customers and are reliable they WILL be fiercely loyal to YOU.
Do the little extra and if you have a downline teach them to do the same, the rewards
are there, take short cuts and your simply wasting your time.
CAUTION
Yes there are lots of lonely people out there, there are also lots of nuts. NEVER does
my wife go into a neighborhood alone NEVER
(once she had a police escort - really). Safety is of the utmost concern, if I don't
go with her she'll take one of her downline, it's
good training and you can alternate streets as to who gets the customer. It's
also a great time to discuss the business with new Representatives,
and build a bond with them! Plan your "attack", and pick only decent neighborhoods.
But I Don't Want To Go Door To Door
Nobody does, sometime though we need to do things we don't want
to do to get where we want to be. Naturally, this is your business if you don't want to go door to door,
then don't.
How About Using A Mail Box?
Great idea, its called direct mail, just make sure you're not the one that put the brochure in the mail box!
You can get into trouble doing this - don't do it! If you really want to get your brochure into the mail system, you can hire a company that will mail the brochure for you to targeted locations, but its not cheap.
